Many people have a narrow idea when they hear the phrase “interracial love”. Our current digital atmosphere — through Google Image search or scrolling Instagram tags — portrays the same picture: two partners; usually cisgender, straight, involving one person of color and one white person. This is only one minuscule point on the spectrum of interracial love.

This photographic series explores some less represented imagery: Black and Brown skin, transgender and nonbinary identity, monogamy and polyamory, queerness. I captured these people in intimate environments emanating feelings of familiarity and comfort, so they could express their love in front of my lens as authentically as possible—without judgement, without fear.

This love exists, but it doesn’t align with most algorithms. This love exists, but you don’t see them kiss in blockbuster film trailers. This love exists, simply because. It lives and breathes like any other type of love — and should be celebrated as such.
